Once a shipment passes a few hundred pounds, sending it as individual parcels stops being economical. Freight pricing takes over: you pay for the deck space and weight you occupy, and the rate per pound drops sharply.

Part load or full trailer
A part load (LTL) shares a trailer, so you pay a share of the cost. It is the right choice from roughly one pallet up to around six. Above that, or when the shipment must not be handled at a transfer point, a full trailer usually works out cheaper per pound and always moves more directly.
Building a pallet properly
Stack to the pallet edges but never past them — overhang is what gets crushed. Put heavy items at the bottom, keep the load square, and shrink-wrap from the base upward with several turns anchoring the goods to the pallet itself. Cap fragile stacks with a board so nothing can be stacked directly onto the contents.
Label the pallet on at least two sides. A single label facing a wall is invisible on a busy dock.
Dimensional weight
Bulky-but-light freight is charged on volumetric weight where that exceeds the actual weight. It is not a penalty — a pallet of cushions occupies the same trailer space as a pallet of tiles and costs the carrier the same to move. Give us the dimensions and the quote will be accurate first time.
Docks and tail lifts
Tell us whether each end has a loading dock, a forklift, or neither. Kerbside delivery without a tail lift means the driver cannot get a pallet safely to the ground, and that is the single most common cause of a failed delivery.
Common questions
When does freight beat parcels?
Usually somewhere past 250–400 lb, depending on the lane. Give us the total weight and we will price both ways and tell you which wins.
Do you supply pallets?
Not as standard. Goods should be palletised and wrapped before collection. We can arrange it as part of a managed booking if you need.
Can you deliver to a residential address?
Yes, but a residential delivery without a dock needs a tail-lift vehicle. Flag it at booking so the right truck is assigned.
