Working out the weight
Most people underestimate. As a rough guide: a three-seat sofa is around 150 lb, a mattress and base around 120 lb, a dining table with chairs around 200 lb, a washing machine around 175 lb, and a filled medium box around 35 lb. A one-bedroom flat typically lands near 1,800 lb; a three-bedroom house nearer 6,000 lb.
You do not have to be exact — give us your best estimate and your coordinator will sanity-check it against the room count before booking.
Preparing furniture
Dismantle anything that comes apart: table legs, bed frames, shelving. Bag the fittings and tape the bag to the largest piece of that item. Empty drawers completely and tape them shut. Wrap upholstered surfaces so they do not pick up marks from straps or other items.
Standard, covered or white glove
Standard handling means the driver loads and unloads at the kerb or door. Covered transport keeps everything in an enclosed trailer, worth it for antiques or anything with a delicate finish. White glove means we carry items into the room you want them in and take the packaging away.
Stairs, lifts and access
Tell us at booking if there are stairs, no lift, a long carry from the parking area, or a narrow doorway. It changes the crew and the time allowed, and it is far cheaper to plan for than to discover on the day.
