Term starts and ends on the same dates for everyone, which is exactly why campus shipping gets expensive and slow if you leave it late. Booking two or three weeks out makes a real difference to both.
Most student shipments are a few boxes and something awkward — a bike, a monitor, a mini fridge — which is precisely what weight-based pricing handles well.
No minimum load — send three boxes if that is all you have.
Bikes, monitors, fridges and desks priced on weight, not surcharged.
Post rooms and halls handled, with access noted at booking.
Book ahead of the move-in rush for better prices and availability.
What students usually send
Books and files, bedding and towels, clothes, kitchen kit, a desk setup, and one bulky item. Two or three well-packed boxes plus the awkward thing is the standard booking.
Getting the boxes right
Books go in small boxes at 30–40 lb, not one huge box. Bedding and clothes can fill a larger box because they are light and self-padding — use them to cushion anything fragile. Monitors and screens travel in their original box if you still have it; if not, they need a rigid box with the screen face protected by a board.
Collection and delivery on campus
Halls of residence usually have a post room or a designated delivery point rather than door access, and many are closed outside term dates. Give us the building name and any access instructions at booking, and a mobile number that will be answered on the day.
Timing
Book two to three weeks before the start or end of term. Everyone moves in the same week, so both price and availability get worse the closer you leave it.
Common questions
Can you deliver to a hall of residence?
Yes. Give us the building name and the post room or delivery point, and check it will be open on the delivery date.
Can you collect before I fly out?
Yes — collection and delivery dates can be a few days apart. Tell your coordinator the window and we work inside it.
How much does a typical student move cost?
It depends entirely on weight and distance. Three boxes of around 100 lb across a few hundred miles is one of our cheapest bookings — run it through the calculator.
